A Unique Edmonton Wedding
Looking for unique wedding inspiration?
Look no further, because this couple from Bristol UK brought out all their creativity for their unique wedding day here in Edmonton Alberta. This Edmonton bride had a unique vision for her wedding dress, she wanted something a little different than the all white traditional wedding gown so she decided to create her own wedding dress! With a hand sewn skirt and a white lace body suit to match, this unique wedding dress was definitely an eye catcher! So many elements of this unique Edmonton wedding day were created from scratch, from the wedding dress, to lots of the decor and even her fatherβs tie, were all handmade by the bride herself.
As an Edmonton Alberta wedding photographer I absolutely LOVE when a couple incorporates elements of themselves into their wedding day and for this Edmonton couple, that meant creating a lot of it themselves and having a DIY wedding day.
letβs dive in
As usual, this Edmonton wedding day started out in the early afternoon with getting ready photos. We popped champagne, made mimosas and started gearing up for this magical unique wedding day in Edmonton Alberta.
As an Edmonton wedding photographer, this is one of my favourite portions of the day. Itβs a time to hangout with all your biggest supporters, get excited and capture all the little details youβve worked so hard to create.
I highly recommend having your wedding photographer be there on the wedding morning because so many precious moments between you and your family / friends happen during this time and you wouldnβt want to miss capturing those.
WEDDING DAY TIP: Have all your detailed items pulled out and ready to go for your photographers arrival! Hereβs what Iβd include: shoes, rings, invite, perfume / cologne, other jewelry, veil, ties, florals, cufflinks
This Edmonton wedding ceremony
was intentional, unique, so full of love and took place at the Capilano Community League here in Edmonton Alberta. This Edmonton wedding venue gave the perfect βbackyard weddingβ feel without having to actually be in someoneβs personal backyard!
During this Edmonton couples hand written wedding vows, there was not a dry eye in sight and YES that includes me! As an Edmonton wedding photographer, Iβm constantly wiping the tears from behind the camera because Iβm a sucker for beautifully written, personal wedding vows.
We truly couldnβt have asked for better weather for this June wedding day; it was warm but slightly gloomy which is a wedding photographerβs dream! The little bit of cloud cover acts as the perfect diffuser and casts the most perfect, even light across all of your wedding photos.
BRIDAL PORTRAITS
On a typical wedding day after the ceremony we move into family portraits and then wedding party portraits. This is where youβre entire wedding party gets together for the group photos and of coarse couples portraits of just you and your lover!
For this Edmonton wedding day we broke up couples portraits into two sections, the first being directly after the ceremony with all of their favourite people and then the second half was done at sunset. As an Edmonton wedding photographer I ALWAYS recommend that my couple squeeze sunset portraits into their wedding day timeline. This gives your final wedding day gallery a little bit more variety and not to mention this is an amazing opportunity for you and your partner to really just take a deep breath and take in the whole day together.
Would you do sunset wedding portraits on your wedding day?
reception
The best part about this Edmonton wedding venue, Capilano Community League, is the fact that it features a great outdoor lawn area to hold your wedding ceremony but also has a fabulous indoor area for your reception.
To keep their wedding guests occupied during cocktail hour and down time during the reception, this Edmonton couple put out all sorts of lawn games like corn hole, ladder ball and a nice cushioned seating area for their guests to sit and relax in.
Once we finished up with all the wedding party portraits, it was time for dinner. Catering this wedding was the Curbside YEG food truck by A Cappella catering. A Cappella catering is hands down one of my favourite catering companies to see on a wedding vendor line up and their food truck is no different! Curbside YEG has several different options of food truck style meals to choose from and I opted for the fish tacos and they did NOT disappoint.
After dinner we moved into speeches, first dances and then officially let the party begin!
