that’s the golden question isn’t it?
We all have our “why?”
But as an Edmonton boudoir photographer, I get asked all the time, how I got started, what made me want to do this? And it’s certainly not just because I wanted to take pretty pictures.
I do it because there once was a little girl who didnt know how to express herself.
I do it because there once was a girl who’s validation stemmed from a mans opinion.
I do it because there once was a girl who thought her self worth was determined by what she put on her body.
I do it because there’s now a woman who wants to dismantle those thoughts and feelings. I do it because I don’t want the women who step foot in my Edmonton boudoir photography studio, to feel those things.
Boudoir photography runs so much deeper than just the photos, it means so much to me because boudoir photography creates a safe space where you can fully express yourself without judgment, you can validate yourself from within and always be shown the utmost respect no matter what you chose to wear or not wear during your boudoir session.
I started down this pathway as an Edmonton boudoir photographer because I simply just wanted to help women who were just like that little girl, feel good, feel accepted and feel valuable because no matter what stage of life you’re in, we all deserve to feel that.
The reward
is absolutely priceless. There’s truly no better feeling when after your Edmonton boudoir photography session with me, you tell me how comfortable and easy it felt or when you tell me you’re riding the high of the confidence and empowerment from it even weeks later.
The thing is 99% of the women you see on my feed or website are doing it scared, nervous and anxious. They’re feeling all those feelings coming into their Edmonton boudoir session no matter how many times they’ve been in front of a camera before, if ever.
They’re doing it despite their own insecurities.
They’re doing it even though they didn’t “lose a few pounds first”
BUT THEY’RE DOING IT
They’re doing it becasue they said “f*ck it, I want this”
They’re doing the boudoir session because they want to feel good and more at home in their bodies. They’re doing it because they want to honour themselves in this stage of their life and for my Edmonton boudor studio to be a trusted space for women to come and accomplish that, will always be the highest reward for being a boudoir photographer.
