Winter Engagement Photos | Edmonton Wedding Photography
Would you get your engagement photos taken in the winter?
Winter in Alberta, Canada can be a touchy subject and having your engagement photos taken during the winter in Alberta is not for the faint of heart but DAMN is it ever beautiful! One thing I always like to tell my couples who book me as their wedding photographer is, itβs a great idea to do your engagement photos in a different or opposite season as your wedding, just so your engagement photos look different than your wedding photos. Majority of my couples have their wedding in the summertime so winter / fall tends to be the most popular time for them to book in for their engagement photos. For this complimentary engagement session we traveled out to one of my favourite locations in the central Alberta area, Pembina River Provincial Park. Pembina River Provincial Park is always my most popular locations for fall photos but this engagement session was a TREAT because itβs the first time Iβve be out here for engagement photos when thereβs been snow on the ground and to say I was obsessed is a complete understatement!
Winter engagement photos
can be SO underrated, especially in Alberta where the weather can be anywhere from +10 to -50 during the winter months. Not many people want to risk the cold but trust me, itβs so worth it to get engagement photos like these!
You truly never know what youβre going to get with Alberta weather but we got the most perfect weather for this winter engagement photography session. It was warm enough that you can still wear your cute outfit and wonβt freeze to death but also cold enough the keep the snow frozen and not all mushy. So this complimentary engagement session for one of my 2025 wedding couples was truly so amazing and we couldnβt have asked for a better turn out
My favourite thing
about being an Alberta wedding photographer is connecting with people and sharing their most exciting moments, your engagement photos being one of those moments! Getting engaged is one of the most exciting moments of your life, especially if itβs a complete surprise. I, myself, went through a complete surprise proposal in late 2022 and it was truly the most magical experience so being able to celebrate that moment with other human beings is not something I will ever take lightly. Iβm so grateful for this career as a wedding photographer, Iβm grateful for the fulfillment itβs brought me, Iβm grateful for the connections Iβve made in the wedding photography industry and Iβm grateful for all the people who trust me with their biggest moments, you truly mean the world to me!
Okay, thatβs enough chit chat
