What to wear to your boudoir session

Do you have a boudoir session coming up? Maybe you’re looking to finally book yourself a boudoir experience and you’re just not sure what you’d even wear?! Well you came to the right place.

Hi! I’m Taylor,

your professional Edmonton boudoir photographer and in this blog we’re going to chat about what to wear to your boudoir session and the three different looks you can do during your session at my Edmonton boudoir studio,

The basics

There’s nothing I love more then going back to the basics when it comes to picking out your outfits for your boudoir session. You seriously can’t go wrong with a classic black bralette and thong set like this beautiful lingerie set from Lounge Underwear.

During your Edmonton boudoir session with me, you will be able to do three different “looks” total

  • 2 outfits (typically I like to say to pick a two piece set and a body suit you love for some variety )

  • In the sheets / Implied nude / nude

Our in the sheets set definitely tends to be a client favourite and can be done with all levels of comfort! 99% of the women who step in our Edmonton boudoir studio feel safe and comfrotable enough to try getting into their birthday suit even if they weren’t expectying it coming into their session.

Its my #1 duty

as your boudoir photographer to create a safe and comfortable space for you to express yourself, but the comfort should also extend to what you decide to wear (or not) during your boudoir session ⁣

When picking outfits for your boudoir session, focus on what makes you FEEL good over what you THINK you need to wear. Some of my all time favourite outfits are just a classic Calvin Klein set or a simple bodysuit so don’t overthink it.

9 times out of 10 your favourite images are going to be the ones in the sheets or no outfits at all, so what you wear will never be as important to how you feel in that moment.

Our client closet has tons of lingerie options for you but if you want to treat yourself to a little something before your boudoir session, the style guide has some tips and tricks for you! ⁣

The client closet

is filled with all sorts of lingerie that variety of sizes from XS-5XL. It consists mainly of bra and underwear sets and bodysuits. My style of boudoir photography is very minimal, simple and natural, so there's nothing I love more than just the basics like a black bralette and thong set or plain bodysuit.

Some things the client closet doesn't have is anything padded or push up. I try my best to stay away from anything too padded because they tend to gap and pitch us in funny places while working through some posing movements.

Although the client closet has tons of options for you to choose from for your boudoir session, If you need more support in certain areas or are worried about the fit of the outfits at all, please come prepared with at least one of your own outfits you are certain fits you like a glove!

Below is a list of items i suggest or don’t suggest when it comes to your boudoir session outfit choices!

Suggest

  • Bra & panty set

  • Lace / Mesh fabric

  • Strappy or open backs

  • Calvin Klein set

  • Bodysuit

  • Fishnets

  • Oversized T-shirt / button down

  • Crop top & matching underwear

  • Body chains

  • Straps that can slip off your shoulders

  • High cut bodysuit / underwear

don’t suggest

  • Props (please ask if there's something you'd like to bring to your session)

But these are ONLY suggestions and ultimitaley your boudoir session is all about YOU and you can wear what the heck you want!

xoxo - Tay
